Remove the ban on Nuclear

REMOVE THE BAN ON NUCLEAR ENERGY IN AUSTRALIA

SIGN THE PETITION

Nuclear power is clean, safe and renewable - so why has Australia banned it?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power has been safely generating energy globally. It emits no harmful pollutants, making it one of the cleanest energy sources available. And as nuclear fuel is renewable, it's a sustainable option for the future.

So why has Australia prohibited nuclear power? Nuclear plants can be tricky to build and manage, and there's always a risk of accidents. But with advances in technology and safety measures, these risks have been significantly reduced. When compared to other forms of energy generation, nuclear power is by far the safest option available.

It's time to remove Australia's nuclear power ban and embrace this safe, clean and sustainable form of energy generation.

Nations around the world are embracing nuclear power as an energy solution because:

  • A higher energy density and greater reliability than other renewable energy sources;
  • Cleanliness, including zero emissions, for which nuclear power has been declared "green" by the European Union;
  • New safety and waste management technologies, including reprocessing waste to make more fuel.

SAY ‘YES’ TO REMOVING THE BAN ON NUCLEAR ENERGY IN AUSTRALIA

  • READ THE LETTER

    TO HON CHRIS BOWEN MP, MINISTER FOR CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENERGY

    As a proud Australian and active member of my electorate, I am writing to ask that you repeal the ban on clean, safe, reliable nuclear power generation in Australia. Nuclear power is one of the most efficient and reliable energy sources available, and it is time for Australians to have the right to enjoy the benefits of our own resources.

    The prohibition on nuclear power was enacted in 1999, and it is now time to reconsider this decision. The world has seen a massive increase in the use of nuclear power in recent years as countries have recognised its importance in meeting energy needs. There are 447 nuclear power plants in 32 nations, and dozens more under construction.

    Australia is the only country in the world that denies itself this option, which puts us at a disadvantage. Our energy prices are exorbitant and increasingly unreliable, while other countries enjoy the benefits of cheap, reliable energy.

    I urge you to repeal the ban on nuclear power and allow Australia to join the rest of the world in using this vital energy source.

    Thank you for your consideration.
